CLIMA returns to Hialeah during Art Basel week featuring art, projects and panel discussions on sea level rise and climate change from November 28th, 2016 through January 14th, 2017 at the Milander Center for Arts and Entertainment  4800 Palm Avenue, Hialeah, FL.

On Friday, December 2nd, 2016 at 7 pm, the City of Hialeah invites the community to an Artist’s Talk and Opening Reception celebrating the 10th anniversary of Reclamation Project, an eco-art effort to reforest mangroves.

CLIMA features new works and participatory eco-art projects by Xavier Cortada including:

Cortada serves as Artist-in-Residence for Florida International University‘s College of Arts, Sciences & Education (CASE) School of Environment, Society and the Arts (SEAS) and FIU’s College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts (CARTA), which along with FIU Sea Level Solution Center (SLSC) join the City of Hialeah in presenting CLIMA.

CLIMA national presenting partner Honoring the Future brings the work of Philadelphia-based artists Peter Handler and Karen Singer (Alaskan Journey: Artists Bear Witness to Climate Change.)  

CLIMA is also honored to present the work of its 2016 featured local guest artist, Michael Gray.  Gray, an FIU MFA candidate in Visual Arts: Studio Practice,  will be presenting his Phyllum Floridian exhibit and contribute works to Cortada’s project on climate refugees.
